You know that for a few days this past week, I had to use the cafe as my office. Although it was a bit of an inconvenience, I really was glad that option was there. Otherwise I would have been out of work for 2 days.
But one thing that worried me was that when you use a public internet hotspot, such as a cafe, airport, or hotel, you sacrifice the security that you normally have when you work at home. Not only can hackers look at what you're doing, they can grab credit card numbers you put in when you're shopping.
I was wondering, how can I carry my security with me when I'm working out and about?
John Jantsch over at Duct Tape Marketing has a really helpful post about this topic.
He recommends the Linksys WTR54GS Wireless G Travel Router, which has a built in firewall and standard wireless encryption. It retails for about $80 at Amazon.
Check out his post to learn the details.
